Rugby town centre needs cleaning straight after market days. This is the verdict of Liberal Democrat Councillors Jerry & Sue Roodhouse who witnessed a total mess of paper and waste in and around the clock tower on Saturday evening (approx 7.20pm):
"There was litter everywhere from fast food rubbish to empty boxes from the market. Local Labour Councillors are calling for Rugby to have a thriving nighttime economy, what we saw will drive customers away. With all the extra money flowing into street cleansing the Council is still failing to get its act together with the Town Centre Company in order to have clean streets"
Stated Councillor Jerry Roodhouse:
"We shall be calling on the Borough Council to get its act together. The Council and portfolio Holder are quick to shout about there successes but remain tight lipped over their poor performance in regard to street cleansing especially in high visibility places such as the town centre."
Liberal Democrats will be checking to see if any improvements happen over the next few months.
