Dalehouse Lane, Kenilworth will become a much safer place for pedestrians by the end of this year, after the decision by Warwickshire County Council this week to install a "puffin" crossing near the busy junction with Common Lane and Knowle Hill, at a cost of £ 50,000.
Liberal Democrat ward councillor Alison Tyler put the case for the crossing at the Area Committee meeting this week, with the backing of Kenilworth Town Council and the heads of local schools. The new crossing will enable children to walk more safely to school, and reduce the number being taken to school by car.
County councillor Dave Shilton, Liberal Democrat, a member of the committee, gave the new crossing his wholehearted support. He said:
"This is a great victory after years of campaigning. The sooner it is installed the better, then we can get more children walking to school safely".
