New Plans For Derelict Factory Site In Kenilworth

February 24, 2005 10:57 AM

Cllr. Dave Shilton (Lib Dem, Kenilworth Park Hill) has warmly welcomed plans submitted to Warwick District Council for the demolition of the derelict Arden Products factory on Dalehouse Lane, Kenilworth , and the creation of 47 new homes: 27 apartments and 20 town houses.

Dave said:

" This site has been a derelict eyesore for years, causing environmental damage to this whole area of town and affecting the saleability of people's homes.

It's been proved that it is not economically sustainable as a factory site. The benefits of the proposed scheme will include affordable housing for our young people, widening and improvement of a busy junction, and the landscaping of this important entrance to our town."

Although the site is currently designated as for industrial use, new PPG3 planning guidelines in January 2005 support the conversion of redundant industrial land to residential use.
