Property Company's Claims Are "Highly Misleading"

Speaking on BBC Coventry & Warwickshire radio this morning, Cllr. Dave Shilton (Lib Dem, Kenilworth Park Hill) advised worried local residents to ignore letters received from a property company suggesting that they could make windfall profits by selling their houses.

A number of residents from across Kenilworth had contacted Dave after receiving letters stating that their property and that of some neighbours formed part of a "windfall development site" under the local structure plan, and that they could potentially sell for up to 50% above the current market value.

Dave said:

"Warwick District Council has made it clear that the claims in these letters are not true, and are highly misleading. No such sites are identified in either the local plan or the county structure plan. There has been no contact by the Council with this or any other property company in this regard.

These letters are very distressing for residents to receive, but the clear advice is to ignore them and take no action. The Council is seeking urgent contact with the senders to ensure they stop as soon as possible."
