At a question and answer session at Benn Hall, Rugby on Thursday 28th April 2005, Richard Allanach answered questions on two important local issues which have not featured elsewhere in the campaign.
RUGBY POST OFFICE
Richard Allanach confirmed that he was totally opposed to the privatisation of Rugby Post Office and would campaign against it if elected.
He said: "I believe a borough of 100,000 ought to have all the main arms of government represented in it - it applies to the magistrates court and the police station and it certainly applies to the Post Office."
ST. CROSS
Speaking on the future of St. Cross Mr Allanach said that he believed that the hospital ought to deliver as many services as possible within the limits set by professional medical advice.
He said: "One of the big ironies of this campaign is that at the beginning I was invited to Warwick Hospital to see their brand new women's unit, whilst Rugby does not have maternity services. If I am elected in a week's time I intend to press our local NHS trust on this matter."
