Rugby and Kenilworth Liberal Democrats discovered at the weekend that 2,500 items of election material in three separate mailings destined for students at Warwick University have gone missing.
The Royal Mail has this morning launched an investigation into the missing mail.
"It is incredible that so many items of addressed mail could simply disappear" said Richard Allanach the Liberal Democrat's candidate for Rugby and Kenilworth.
On the 18th April the Liberal Democrats posted a mailing to each student in the University's Halls of Residence. This mailing set out students' right to vote in the two elections on 5th May - one for the county council and one for Parliament. Later that week a further general election freepost mailing was sent to each student.
Neither of these mailings have arrived in student pigeon holes.
Interference with the Royal Mail is a serious criminal offence and the Liberal Democrats are informing the police of the missing items.
