Excellent Result by Richard Allanach

Rugby & Kenilworth Liberal Democrats have congratulated Richard Allanach on his excellent result in the general election on Thursday.

In a closely-fought Labour-Conservative marginal seat, Richard succeeded in increasing the Lib Dem vote by 36% compared with 2001, topping 10,000 votes for the first time.

Our share of total votes cast was 17.8%, up 4.0 points on 2001, while Labour fell 5.6 points, and the Tories only gained 1.5 points even though winning the seat narrowly.
