Liberal Democrats are backing a new proposal for a station in Kenilworth that has just been submitted by Warwickshire County Council to the Department of Transport.

Until now train operators using the line through Kenilworth have shown little interest in stopping in the town. However, new rail franchises will be awarded by the Government later this year, so now is the time to persuade them to include Kenilworth station in their franchise specifications.
County councillor Dave Shilton (Liberal Democrat, Park Hill) has been leading the fight for the station since 1995, with strong support from county councillor John Whitehouse (Liberal Democrat, Abbey) before and since his election last year.
