Warwick Area Committee has backed a recommendation by Liberal Democrat county councillor John Whitehouse (Kenilworth Abbey) to convert the existing foot way on the A429 Kenilworth Road from Crackley to the Coventry city boundary to a shared use foot/cycleway.
The new cycle path will connect to the recently-completed cycle track between the Coventry city boundary and Gibbett Hill Road, and provide the missing link in a safer cycle route between Kenilworth and Coventry.
John Whitehouse said:
"I'm extremely pleased that this scheme is going ahead at last. This is a fast, unlit stretch of road, which represented an obstacle to cyclists especially in the dark. Liberal Democrats want to encourage cycling in every possible way, and this will be a good addition to our local cycle path network."
