May 9, 2007 9:19 AM
Dundee LibDems urged to get involved in leadership debate

Rugby Liberal Democrats urge all supporters to rally behind the team in its constructive opposition.

Constructive Opposition

Following the local elections Rugby Liberal Democrats have elected the following people

Group Leader Jerry Roodhouse

Deputy Leader Chris Holman

Cllr Jerry Roodhouse said

"There is now a polarising taking place in the local political scene and a widening gap in the Borough between various communities. The Lib Dems will ensure that work towards having balanced communities across the whole Borough. We have also agreed as a group that we will not be supporting the alternative weekly refuse collection service, we want to see the council get the basics right first. "

The Lib Dem group passed a resolution at its meeting that it would work across the political divide and in doing so will use as touchstone the following Lib Dem priority's

? Greater Openness and involvement in local communities with decision making

? Safer Community's we will continue seek local solutions by working with local communities on anti social behaviour

? A Cleaner Greener & Healthy Borough we need a "Keep Rugby Tidy" campaign

? Inclusion & Diversity bring local communities together; there is a growing division across the Borough.
