The County Council has decided to combine the Paddox school sites onto the one Junior School site and dispose of the old site, some 1.13 hectares including 0.2 hectares of playing field.
The Consultation period has now started and we are concerned, that the County Council has not gone the 'extra mile' in investigating a future use for part of the area which is to be disposed of.
Below are quotes from the consultation document:
"The County Council does not believe that there are any viable alternative community uses for the land". It also states: "The County Council is obliged to consult the local community, to ascertain what views they may have regarding the proposed disposal of the site"
Liberal Democrats support combining the site in principle, but insist that when local people are consulted, their views are seriously considered.
We intend to hold a local public meeting to discuss this issue! Watch this space for the venue, date and time
Our previous public consultations have indicated that a need has been identified! A new community facility should be considered, which could also combine the Fareham youth facility into it, thereby ensuring that young people living in the area have an improved service.
We are delighted that St Georges have offered to help develop this work.
Note: You only have up until 14th March to let the County Council have your views:
