Jerry Roodhouse welcomes Dave Elson to the team
Ex-Conservative Councillor Dave Elson has joined the Liberal Democrats and in so doing has called on other dissatisfied Conservative Councillors to join the Liberal Democrats
Dave Elson said in joining
"You are told how to vote and what to do and to keep quiet on issues that may affect the areas that you represent. I was not treated fairly prior to the elections, following the elections I looked closely at what the Liberal Democrats are doing locally and asked questions about their policy's. I like what I have seen and see them as the future local party in Rugby. Progressive, open and allowing real democracy to take place by allowing local councillors to really represent the areas that elect them - not following the party line and whip"
Cllr Jerry Roodhouse said
" We welcome Dave to the Liberal Democrats we have seen recently Labour members joining us and now we have Conservatives. My message to other Conservatives who are dissatisfied is to take the step and come and join us. You will find an openness and fairness that allows true local representation to take place above the party whip and dogma
This comes as we enter a by election to be held December 4th for Avon & Swift due the death of Cllr. Hazel Bell
