UNFAIR!

January 17, 2010 1:01 AM
Jerry Roodhouse

Jerry said "It is a disgrace that the people who can least afford energy costs are made to pay over the top prices"

This is the verdict of Jerry Roodhouse parliamentary candidate for the Liberal Democrats over the way energy companies charge for pre paid meters.

Following recent press reports Jerry made enquires locally and also wrote to Ofgem asking that they as the regulator reform the pricing structure to make it fairer. Of gem has so far not done so leaving hundreds of people on pre paid meters being ripped off by energy companies.

Jerry said "It is a disgrace that the people who can least afford energy costs are made to pay over the top prices; we have fine words from Ofgem about Social Action in yet another strategy but this results in no real help for the individual. A campaign is needed to help change the rules and I am asking through the local media for people to contact me if they have also attempted to claim back money yet and want to change the rules and make it fairer"

The average cost difference between online direct debit and payment by cash or cheque is £268.00 (source info u switch.com).
