After many years of campaigning, a pelican crossing for Windy Arbour, Kenilworth will soon be a reality at last.

The Warwick Area Committee has unanimously backed the recommendation by Councillor Dave Shilton (Liberal Democrat, Kenilworth Park Hill) that a light-controlled crossing be installed near the junction of Windy Arbour with Whitemoor Road and Leyes Lane. This road is crossed every day by hundreds of children attending three local schools.

Dave Shilton said:

"It's a miracle that no children have been killed or seriously injured at this junction, and I hope that having got the go-ahead the highway authority will proceed with all possible speed. We need a crossing in place as soon as possible, to make sure that children can walk to and from school unaccompanied in safety."
