Warwickshire Libdems announce £50m for Schools5.47.00pm BST (GMT +0100) Sat 25th Apr 2009
The Warwickshire Liberal Democrats release their 2009 Manifesto today identifying their priorities. Cllr Jerry Roodhouse Leader of the Liberal Democrats in Warwickshire said "The Liberal Democrats will ensure that the people of Warwickshire receive the high quality services that they deserve. We will ensure that every penny possible is spent on the residents that pay their Council Tax, and not on bureaucracy and red tape". At the launch with other activists he went onto say "We recognise that Warwickshire residents are facing a tough time during this recession and so will do everything possible to ease their financial burden. We will keep Council Tax rises below inflation and provide support for those in need of support." The Liberal Democrats completely disagree with the Conservatives decision to refurbish Council offices when our schools are in desperate need of support. We will therefore invest an extra £50 million to upgrade our school buildings. The Conservatives have continued to waste Warwickshire money by refusing to deal with the big issues facing the county. They have failed to recognise the need for a modern fire service and instead have made important service such as Warwickshire libraries suffer by reducing the amount of books available and charging for the use of computers. The Liberal Democrats will bring Warwickshire out of the recession by reducing the obstacles that prevent a thriving economy. We will make Warwickshire an easier place to do business which will provide much needed jobs for local people. The Liberal Democrats believe everyone has the right to feel safe within their community and so will invest in more PCSOs to make our streets safe. We will also protect our children and young people by implementing 20mph speed limits outside schools where appropriate. We will face the difficult issues that are draining taxpayers' money and put your money into services you need.
