Liberal Democrats, open, tolerant and unitedAt Rugby Borough Council's budget setting meeting to be held on Tuesday 27 February 2018, Liberal Democrat Councillors will be pressing the Conservative administration who run Rugby Council to improve our play areas and invest in upgrading and opening changing rooms for greater community use. Rugby Lib Dems are also proposing measures to kick start a green recycling education programme.

We will pay for this by:

  • Moving all households to kerbside rubbish collections - approximately 1,000 properties will generate £75,000.
  • Four yearly local Council elections, which would generate in the region of £50,000.
  • Adopting the efficiencies needed.

Commenting, Councillor Jerry Roodhouse, Leader of the Liberal Democrat Group on Rugby Borough Council, said:

"The Lib Dems in Rugby are consistent in wanting to invest in public health and in having a good quality environment for everyone. It is not fair that staff at Rugby Borough Council are having to bear the brunt of the cuts being made and we are not seeing any change to the number of Councillors or the election process. Our proposals are fair, will have a positive impact and will help improve our communities."
