Neil and SueBiart Place was constructed over 50 years ago to replace railway workers cottages and to meet the need for social housing. It was in its day a regeneration project.

It has served the housing needs for many people and some residents have lived there for many years. In response to Rugby Borough Council's report to Council (Tuesday 24 April 2018) Eastland Ward Councillors Neill Sandison and Sue Roodhouse have commented.

Cllr Neil Sandison said:

"As Councillors for this area we have worked with residents and Council Officers on a range of issues such as the upgrading of the internal fire doors, replacement of damaged and worn out floor coverings, lifts and laundry equipment repaired when they have ceased to work. We also deal with many social issues especially families with very young children needing a transfer and the nuisance issues such as noise and fly tipping. The structural survey which was conducted following the outcome from Grenfell fire has clearly unearthed defects that no one could have known about. Many local authorities are in a similar position."

Cllr Sue Roodhouse added:

"What we have I hope all learned from Grenfell is that we must listen to residents' concerns as a priority. They will need our assistance and support both before and after the Council has determined the future of their homes be that a temporary decant or a permanent transfer, the offer must be for suitable accommodation that meets their personal needs."
