Local Plan – Another chance to have your say

JR NN TD Local PlanRugby's Local Plan is progressing, and modifications are out for public consultation until 5 October 2018.

The Local Plan was submitted to the Secretary of State for Examination in Public on 14 July 2017. Hearing sessions took place 23 January - 2 February and 17 - 26 April 2018. Following the hearings, the Inspector wrote to the Council on 16 May 2018. In his letter the Inspector put forward modifications that would be required to make the plan sound, requiring that they be subject to public consultation. These, along with other modifications suggested by Rugby Borough Council, have been incorporated into a schedule of Main Modifications.

Liberal Democrat Councillors still consider that the Local Plan is weak because of the need for an additional secondary school in the north of the borough. View the modifications here:

We support the establishment of the Hillmorton Parkway Rail Station and are calling for more cycle routes to schools and community facilities. We are pressing Warwickshire County Council for the development of a Transport Strategy for Rugby to improve air quality.

After campaigning for it we welcome that both the Cawston Spinney/Greenway and Rainsbrook Valley are to be integrated into the Green Infrastructure Improvement Network. Liberal Democrats want to ensure the Rainsbrook Valley is protected.

If you agree with us, respond to the Local Plan consultation and request that it is included as part of the Green Infrastructure Improvement Network. Email: localplan@rugby.gov.uk
