About Bill

Bill Lewis has an impressive track record of community involvement from his schooldays in Wales, through university and into his professional career. Bill has lived onthe Hillside Estate for over 40 years. Bill is a former Rugby Borough Councillor for Caldecott Ward and has represented the residents of Rokeby & Overslade Ward since May 2014.

Bill will be known to many of you because of his involvement with the Rokeby Schools for over 30 years, as Chair of Governors and as a committee member of the PTAs at both schools. He established the Rokeby Schools Joint Recycling Initiative and ran it for 21 years.

Bill is active on Sustainable Rugby, Rugby Sport for the Disabled Association and he is a Trustee and Chair of Rugby Bareboards Trust.

Bill is Chair of the Rokeby Community Forum together with the Rokeby and Hillside Neighbourhood Watch Association.

Bill has opposed inappropriate developments in our area. As Chair of Stop Ashlawn Road Development (SARD) he led a campaign to oppose the housing development on Ashlawn Fields. As a committee member of Sustainable Hillside and Rokeby Education (SHARE) he joined residents opposing the building of a school on a green open space in our area.

Bill has organised litter picks and resident surveys and assisted residents with planning matters in Overslade and Shakespeare Gardens.

Bill is married to Sue with two adult children. He retired in 2010 after a long career in the Civil Engineering profession. Bill has devoted a large part of his life to voluntary work and would welcome the chance to continue serving the community in Rokeby & Overslade Ward as a Borough Councillor. Bill's fellow Councillors have nominated him for the position of Deputy Mayor for 2018/19
