Councillor Bill Lewis is Deputy Mayor
On 17 May 2018 Councillor Bill Lewis was elected Deputy Mayor of Rugby. He will take up office in May 2019 when the current Mayor, Councillor Tom Mahoney's year comes to an end.
Councillor Lewis represents Rokeby and Overslade Ward. He has an impressive track record of community involvement from his schooldays in Wales, through university and into his professional career. Bill has lived on the Hillside Estate for over 36 years and is a former Rugby Borough Councillor for Caldecott Ward.
Bill will be known to many of you because of his involvement with the Rokeby Schools for over 25 years, as Chairman of Governors and as a continuing committee member of the PTAs. He established the Rokeby Schools Joint Recycling Initiative and ran this for 21 years.
Bill is active on Sustainable Rugby, Rugby Sport for the Disabled and he is a Trustee of Rugby Bareboards Trust. He Chairs the Rokeby Community Forum and the Rokeby and Hillside Neighbourhood Watch Association and is Vice Chairman of the Hillside and Rokeby Community Association.
Bill is married to Sue with two adult children. He retired in 2010 after a long career in the Civil Engineering profession. Bill has devoted a large part of his life to voluntary work.
