The final results from are in, and Liberal Democrats finish 2018 with a net gain of 18 seats in principal local authority by-elections across the country.
This includes the by-election victory by Dominic Skinner in Stratford Upon Avon in November to gain another seat on Warwickshire County Council for the Lib Dems!
Behind that headline figure Liberal Democrats have actually:
- Gained 26 seats
- Successfully defended 18 seats
- Sadly lost eight seats
