Works on the new 3.5-mile link road connecting Houlton to Rugby are progressing according to schedule and the road is expected to be open by Summer 2019.

In April, Councillor Tim Douglas (Paddox Ward) was in contact with Houlton following queries from residents. Houlton confirmed then that all the canal sheet piling work is now complete and the main earthworks for the next phases are underway.

Connecting to the existing junction at Butlers Leap, the road will feature a bridge over the canal, across Hillmorton Lane, and into Houlton.

Houlton have since released information explaining that the new canal bridge will be lifted into place over the winter and the Hillmorton Lane and Butlers Leap works are underway now and are being done.

The road is expected to be complete and open in Summer next year.
