Retain Community Farm say Rugby Liberal Democrats
Rugby Liberal Democrats have called on Warwickshire County Council to support the retention of the Five Acre Community Farm, which is based at Ryton Organic Gardens, after the site was listed for sale at the start of February.
Five Acre Community Farm, an organic vegetable business which has been based at Ryton Organic Gardens for six years, has put in a tender to buy the field, agricultural buildings and gardens to keep them in the community. If successful, the farm would raise the money through a community share offer, enabling the land to be protected as a community growing space for the future.
Local Liberal Democrat Borough and County Councillor Jerry Roodhouse has asked the Leader of Warwickshire County Council to support the group because of its importance for Public Health and Mental Health. The farm also produces and supports families with good quality food. Councillor Jerry Roodhouse will also be contacting Rugby Borough Council to see what support it can bring to retain this important project.
Commenting, Councillor Jerry Roodhouse, said:
"It's vital that we do all we can to save this important community asset and I urge everyone to get behind the campaign."
