Vote Lib Dems for an Active, Caring and Effective Councillor

Rugby Liberal Democrats want to make Rugby an even better place to live, work and enjoy.

We were the first to call for a new cultural quarter including hotel and conferencing facilities to be incorporated into the redevelopment of the town.

We have called for a bus and coach interchange in the town and brought forward proposals for such a facility using Council owned assets. Both Conservatives and Labour have chosen not to support our ideas.

As Rugby continues to grow and expand, with thousands more houses to be built, Liberal Democrats believe new developments must be accompanied with quality services such as schools and health facilities.

To improve our environment it's vital that we have proper infrastructure, such as improvements to roads, cycle ways, bus and pedestiran routes. Without this we will see further congestion and grid lock with a deterioration in air quality.

Councillors have a key role to play in the future of Rugby. You can influence that future by voting for the Liberal Democrats on 2 May 2019.

• Renting - Lib Dem Councillors called for and have worked with Council officers to introduce a Private Renters Charter to support tenants and help landlords understand their obligations when renting.

• Social housing - Rugby Liberal Democrat Councillors want to see more social or genuinely affordable housing being built. On previously developed sites we believe that a target for affordable housing provision must be 30% and on greenfield sites a minimum target of 40% must be sought.
• Scrap the green bin charge - Rugby Liberal Democrats have consistently opposed the green bin charge since it was introduced, and we know from Warwickshire County Council that there is no overall saving for Rugby.
• Designate a new Country Park that links to our leisure walks - The Rainsbrook Valley and Cawston Spinney to become part of Rainsbrook and Cawston Countryside Parkland and be included in Rugby Borough Council's green infrastructure improvement network.
• Plastic waste - Liberal Democrat Councillors led the campaign to end the use of single-use plastics at Council facilities.
• Compost revolution - through increasing our series of community drop-in events, start a compost revolution to reduce landfill costs and improve how we recycle food and green waste.
• Town Centre - Create a cultural and heritage quarter to help support the growth of independent shops and small businesses.
