Warwickshire Liberal Democrats are very concerned over the split between West Mercia and Warwickshire Police and believe that a solution must be found to ensure local Policing numbers are not reduced and communities are kept safe.

An extraordinary meeting of the Warwickshire Police and Crime Panel has taken place in recent weeks and further meetings are planned. West Mercia have also held an extraordinary meeting with concerns raised about resources being disproportionately used in Warwickshire.

The forces merged services including firearms and police dog officers as well as IT, HR and communications in 2013. The forces currently share the same control room and jointly cover a patch of 3,000 square miles.

Commenting, Warwickshire Lib Dem Spokesperson, said:

"We are very concerned that the split will mean greater pressures on Warwickshire Police. The force will need as much help and support that can be given especially by local authorities across Warwickshire along with the County Council. Liberal Democrats will be working across the political divide to find a solution which ensures local Policing numbers are not reduced and that our communities are kept safe."
