All party support for longer Hunters Lane recycling centre opening

10 Dec 2014

There was all party support for longer opening hours at the Hunters Lane recycling centre in Rugby at the Council meeting last night, 9 December 2014.

The issue had first been raised by Cllr Maggie O'Rourke (Lab, Benn) and had been kicked into the long grass by the county's conservatives who had promised a review. Last night Cllr O'Rourke received backing from Cllrs Sandison and Bragg. Cllr Neil Sandison (Lib Dem, Paddox) said that two-fifths of what was placed in Rugby's black bins with black lids was potentially recyclable and that the county council should be doing more to encourage recycling and stop unnecessary incineration. Cllr Sally Bragg (Con, Wolston and the Lawfords) said that she too hoped that the county council would agree to extend the Hunters Lane opening hours.

We can only hope that the ruling conservative group on Warwickshire County Council agree to back their Rugby colleague.
