Ashlawn Road Development: Rugby needs answers says Baroness Walmsley

14 Nov 2014

Liberal Democrat peer, Baroness Joan Walmsley, visited the site of the proposed Ashlawn Road Development and spoke to local residents today.

Afterwards she said "Rugby Borough Council must ask serious questions of the developer. What will be the impact of the extra traffic? What is the effect on flood risk? As secondary schools are already over-subscribed how would they cope with the additional children a development on this scale would cause?"

Amongst the residents Baroness Walmsley met were two new residents to the area who were struggling to find a GP practice which would take them on their register. Can local health services cope? She was also shown the already congested junction in Dunchurch Village.

During her visit Baroness Joan Walmsley also met sixth formers at Rugby High School for Girls. She described their questioning as "robust but enjoyable".
