Autumn Spending Review – good news and bad news on housing

26 Nov 2015

In yesterday's (25 November 2015) Autumn Spending Review the Chancellor announced that more public sector land was to be released for housing and the government would continue with the coalition's plans for a new garden city at Ebbsfleet in Kent.

The Chancellor reckons the public land released could result in 160,000 extra homes being built. Unfortunately at the same time he announced a squeeze on further education budgets. This will make it more difficult for our local colleges to provide young people with the skills needed to build those homes.
