It was odds-on that it would happen and it has. David Wilson Homes (East Midlands) and Gallagher Estates Ltd have given notice that they are appealing against the decision by Rugby Borough Council to refuse them planning permission to build up to 860 houses on Ashlawn Fields.

Additional information obtained from Rugby Borough planning officers is as follows:

The appeal will be heard at a formal public inquiry which is likely to be convened in early December 2016. At the appeal Rugby Borough Council will have to defend its decision to refuse the application and there will be procedures in place to allow other parties to make statements too. The inquiry will be held in the Council Chamber at Rugby Town Hall.

The appellants have issued a 24 page Initial Statement of Case which outlines the basis of their appeal.

There is a deadline of 3rd June 2016 for extra comments or the revision of comments already made with regard to the application.

The council will inform all those who wrote or e-mailed in with comments about the application which number over 400.

Further information on the details of the appeal in the form of Proofs of Evidence will be provided by the appellant about a month before the inquiry starts.

Should the appellant require any significant changes to the original proposal, then a further consultation period will be held.

We will pass on to you all additional information as it becomes available to us. SARD will be meeting to decide on its options for future actions.
