Budget tax avoidance clampdown welcomed by Lib Dem Gonҫalves
Speaking today (Wednesday 18 March 2015), Ed Gonҫales the Liberal Democrat's candidate for Rugby in the forthcoming general election praised the influence of Liberal Democrat ministers in the final budget of the coalition government.
He said "For ordinary people in Rugby, the highlights of this Budget will undoubtedly be those policies which the Lib Dems have fought for doggedly".
"The increase in personal tax allowances will benefit millions of people, particularly lower and middle income earners. There is a big boost for children's mental health services, something which Lib Dems have worked hard to persuade the Conservatives to support. Our policy to give people who have already bought an annuity greater flexibility over how they access its value is in the Budget too. Plus there is more help for first time buyers through an innovative new Help to Buy ISA scheme.
"I am also pleased to see that Lib Dem policies on clamping down on tax avoidance by multinational companies, cracking down on off-shore tax evasion, and increasing the bank levy, were also announced today. It shows that the Lib Dems can be trusted to speak for ordinary people, delivering help where it is most needed, and tackling tax avoidance by the super-rich."
