Cllr Noreen New (Paddox Ward) called on Rugby Borough Council to take more action over dog mess.

Noreen along with fellow Lib Dem Councillors put forward an amendment for extra resources at the Rugby Council budget meeting to tackle this issue.

Noreen stated, "Health concerns such as toxicariasis, which can cause blindness in children, is linked to dog fowling and I have an increased contact by local residents over this matter. We need to do more".

Complaints about this issue have also increased elsewhere and Bill Lewis (Local Campaigner in Rokeby & Overslade Ward) has had discussions with the Council over ways of resolving the problem.

By law, dog owners must clear up after their dogs on all land to which the public have access. If you fail to pick up after your pooch, you could be issued with an £80 fixed penalty notice. You could also be taken to court and face a fine of up to £1,000.
