Clifton Bypass at Butlers Leap?

9 Sep 2013

Dale Keeling, Sue Roodhouse and Neil Sandison have concerns that a possible route will effect Rugby Golf Course and the Oxford Canal.

Proposals for a new road from the Mast Site to the town centre.

Despite press speculation started by a Conservative Councillor, full details and possible route has not been fully released by Rugby Borough Council planners and County Highways engineers. Indeed Councillors will not be given details on the 6,200 home scheme until the 26th of September.

It will then go out for consultation for a six week period. What we do know is that initial research by highways engineers indicated it would have a high impact on the Clifton Road and Hillmorton Roads.

Eastlands Borough Councillors Dale Keeling, Sue Roodhouse and Neil Sandison working as a team have already made some representations to the highway authority on your behalf we are now waiting to see if these have in fact been taken on board and reflected in the design for the new road and traffic management of existing roads and streets.

Cllr Neil Sandison said,

"We do have concerns on how for example any Clifton Bypass will affect local amenities like the Oxford Canal, Rugby Golf Course and local allotments. Increased traffic speeds and congestion and road safety at street junctions. As soon as we have more accurate details we will arrange for local residents to view the plans and discuss any issues they may have with the proposals."
