The FOI request also revealed that an annual spend on recruitment agencies that Warwickshire County Council have contracts with, up to now and last finance year, was £10,644,472.

During the same period Conservative run Rugby Borough Council spent £72,060 on consultancies and £828,470 on recruitment agencies.

Commenting, Dale Keeling, Liberal Democrats Councillor for Eastlands Ward on Rugby Borough Council, said:

"Whilst there is sometimes need for consultants on various authority projects, I would call upon Warwickshire County Council and Rugby Borough Council to continually review the use of consultants and have a tighter control in their use to ensure that they are only employed were strictly necessary and for no longer than is needed. Next year residents across Warwickshire will vote for Councillors to represent them and at a time when services are being cut, what's important is that they get value for money."

FOI results from Warwickshire County Council and Rugby Borough Council.
