Councillor Dale Keeling says beware of scam calls

Liberal Democrats Councillor for Eastlands Ward, Dale Keeling has warned local residents to be wary of telephone scam callers after he and relatives in Rugby had received scam calls from number 01612 269268.

Cllr. Keeling missed the call but after ringing the number back to investigate, an automated voice stated the number was unknown. He then contacted Trading Standards. Warwickshire Trading Standards confirmed the number had a Manchester code but was likely to be made outside the UK. They advise never agree to purchase goods or services from cold callers, or arrange for those callers to visit your home. Other advice incudes:

Make a scam/rogue trader complaint to Trading Standards via Citizens Advice Consumer Service on 03454 040506.

Commenting, Councillor Dale Keeling, said:

"I'd like the public to be made aware of this number and consider those who may have vulnerable relatives who may fall foul of such activity. This is also a further reminder for the public not to give out bank details or passwords over the telephone from cold callers."
