County Council backs Richard Dickson on Dunchurch Junction

19 Nov 2014

Warwickshire County Council have now written to Rugby Borough Council to criticise David Wilson Homes' proposals for the crossroads in Dunchurch Village Centre.

The council's highway engineers echo the concerns first raised by the Liberal Democrat prospective parliamentary candidate for Kenilworth and Southam, Richard Dickson.

Writing about the Dun Cow junction they say:

1 "The proposals … will present a significant barrier to pedestrian and cyclist movements within the village".

2 "The layout has the potential to generate more congestion".

3 "The junction will result in a loss of parking in the centre of the village. The parking is integral to support local business and services".

4 [The proposals raise] "significant highway safety concerns and the potential for more pedestrian versus vehicle accidents at the junction".
