Election success for Rugby Lib Dems
After a hard fought Rugby Borough Council election campaign, on May 5th 2016, voters elected Carie-Anne Dumbleton into Rokeby and Overslade with 1196 votes. This saw the Lib Dems gain a seat off Labour.
In Eastlands Sue Roodhouse was re-elected with a majority of over 600 votes and in Paddox Tim Douglas was elected with over 1000 votes.
Liberal Democrats in Rugby have built on the hard work done week in and week out throughout the year. We are now equal with Labour on Rugby Borough Council, which is now made up of 21 Conservative councillors, 9 Labour, 9 Liberal Democrats and 3 Independents. The results leaves Rugby Council in no overall control.
Rugby Lib Dems also had candidates in Admirals and Cawston (Lee Chase), Benn (Hugh Trimble), Bilton (Lesley George), Clifton, Newton and Churchover (Keith Ward), Coton and Boughton (Gwen Hotten), Hillmorton (Terry White), New Bilton (Hossain Tafazzal), Newbold and Brownsover (Jerome Perrier).
