The absolute final deadline to register to vote is MIDNIGHT Tuesday 7th June.

The Electoral Commission advise you to register to vote by 16th May.

Postal ballot papers will be sent to all eligible overseas voters that are registered to vote in time for the first despatch between 23rd and 27th May.

Those that apply to register at a later date will be sent ballot papers after their registration is confirmed.

It is crucial that registering to vote is not left until the last minute. After completing the online registration at www.gov.uk/register-to-vote you should go to www.aboutmyvote.co.uk print off a postal vote application, complete the information and sign the form then scan the completed application and email to your *Electoral Registration Office*. They will deal with the postal vote application as soon as you are added to the register. www.gov.uk/register-to-vote.

You can get someone to vote as a proxy. You will need to complete a proxy vote application form and send it to the Electoral Registration Officer at your last local authority. You can print a form from www.gov.uk/voting-in-the-uk or contact your Electoral Registration Officer to request a form in the post. To find their contact details enter your latest UK postcode on www.aboutmyvote.co.uk.

This can be a POSTAL proxy vote - The proxy does not have to be resident where the vote is cast.

To be able to vote in the Referendum you must be on the Register to Vote by the above dates. If indeed you are not sure whether you are on that Register - do not assume that you are. You need to register each year - if you registered for last year's General Election and haven't registered this year, you will need to register again.
