Highway Matters in Rokeby and Overslade

The Liberal Democrat Community Champion, Bill Lewis, has continued to tackle many highway maintenance and associated issues.
Here are some of those Bill has reported and which have either been resolved or he has been assured that orders have been placed to get the repairs carried out.
- Resurfaced pavement on ShakespeareGardens. One area completed, another to be done and a third reported by a resident and to be inspected.
- Resurfaced pavement and new BT chamber cover on Mellish Court reported and completed. These had been problems since 2008 but successive Ward Councillors had been unable to resolve the issues.
- Installation of drop kerbs on the Goldsmith Avenue junction with Norton Leys.
- Potholes along Tennyson Avenue. Reported; inspected with County Council; temporary repair completed; included for full resurfacing in a future year.
- Dangerous surfacing on footpath between Ratliffe Road and Overslade Manor Drive reported in early 2012 and finally to be resurface in November 2013.
- Replacement of manhole cover in Orson Leys and of missing stop cock covers in Saunton Road by Severn Trent.
- Additional dog litter bins requested and installed on Hillside and Ratliffe Road.
- Street lighting column re-erected on Everest Road and a damaged lantern replaced on another. Many street light defects reported and repaired.
- Road markings repainted at the zebra crossing on Overslade Lane and potholes filled. New surface dressing to be laid this year.
- Water main leaks reported and repaired on Overslade Manor Drive and Deepmore Road. Leaks also reported on Dunchurch Road and their investigation is on going.
- Severe depressions in the road on Norton Leys reported and repaired and another reported on Bracken Drive.
