Jerry Roodhouse announced as Parliamentary Candidate for Rugby & Bulkington at the 8 June General Election
Rugby Liberal Democrats are very pleased to announce that Jerry Roodhouse will be our Parliamentary Candidate for Rugby & Bulkington at the 8 June General Election.
Jerry Roodhouse is a tireless campaigner and has a proven track record of promoting to great affect the interests and causes of the people of this area. Jerry operates at the community edge of politics. He is never afraid to challenge the establishment and be unpopular with officials and political opponents in pursuit of his constituents' interests. His common sense and no nonsense straight talking are needed at Westminster.
Over the years Jerry has campaigned on a range of issues from poor housing to fighting for better health and care service in our local hospitals, such as at St Cross a good local hospital. Jerry has fought for the improvements needed in mental health services, especially for tackling autism and he has campaigned for greater dignity for older people in care. Jerry is a strong advocate for the voluntary sector and the great work it does. He and has worked closely with Age UK, CAVA, and various other charities.
Jerry has lived and worked in this area for over 50 years. He is married to Sue, a fellow Rugby Borough Councillor. They have two daughters and four grandchildren. Jerry trained as an agricultural engineer, later moving into sales and is now a Director of small company. Jerry believes in communicating with the community and can be seen out and about delivering leaflets and meeting local residents on a regular basis. Jerry is Chair of Fareham Youth Trust, supporting young people. He is a Director of Healthwatch Warwickshire and also a Director of Hummingbird Midlands, a charity which supports anyone affected by cancer. He also Chairs the Rugby Forum of Age UK.

"This election is very important to me as I believe in a Britain that is open, tolerant and united. The great danger we face is that the election result could give the Tories a blank cheque. I do not want to see that happen. I want to ensure that we fight for a better deal for the next generation as they will have to live with the consequences of what is being railroaded through today. This is why I am asking you to vote for me."
