Let us have a Country Park now
Local Liberal Democrats campaigner in Admirals & Cawston, Lee Chase, says local residents should use Rugby Borough Council's latest consultation on the South West Rugby development to press the case for a country park for Rugby.
Lee Chase believes Cawston Spinney should lie at the heart of the new park.
A year ago, Rugby Borough Council said that there was no need for an extra park to serve the needs of the twelve thousand people coming to live in the South West Rugby township.
Now after receiving over a thousand comments on their initial Masterplan Rugby Borough Council agree they were wrong.
Commenting, Lee Chase, said:
"It is great that Rugby Borough Council has finally agreed that we need a new Park. If we took Cawston Spinney, protected it with a decent sized buffer and then added a 14-hectare Park with some of the other open space that the developers should provide we would have the basis for something really special. Imagine a wide-open connection to the Cawston Greenway, national cycle routes and beyond."
