Local views needed for local pharmacies

Rugby Liberal Democrats are urging local residents to put their views across on experiences of local pharmacy services to help guide decisions on how services can be improved.

Coventry City Council and Warwickshire County Council are working in partnership with the NHS to understand how you use pharmacies (or Chemists) and the services they provide that are most important to residents.

Last year Rugby Lib Dems Cllrs Tim Douglas and Jerry Roodhouse visited the Paddox Pharmacy to speak to the manager about proposed Government cuts to services. Cllr Douglas wrote to the Health Secretary to ask the Government to think again about any plans to cut funding for local pharmacies and to outline what effects any reduction in funding could have on pharmacies in Rugby and in particular the Paddox pharmacy.

NHS Midlands and Lancashire Commissioning Support Unit are undertaking a Pharmaceutical Needs Assessment (PNA) on behalf of Coventry City Council and Warwickshire Council Council. The PNA is a document that is used to evaluate community pharmacy services in relation to local health needs in Coventry and Warwickshire.

It's important that the public's views and experiences of the local pharmacy services are heard to help guide decisions on how services can be improved, for example about where to site NEW pharmacies - their opening hours and what services are provided and it is renewed every 3 years.
