After a three year campaign residents of seven bungalows in Garyth Williams Close have been told that a gas supply is being laid to their homes this month (January 2015) and that gas central heating should follow shortly afterwards.

Garyth Williams resident Alec told the Rugby Liberal Democrat website team that he believes that the bungalows were left out of a gas central heating programme three years ago when nearby bungalows were upgraded because someone "forgot" to enter their postcode (CV22 6TF) in the computer. He has been campaigning for gas to be supplied ever since.

He is angry that it has taken so long to put right the mistake "We feel we have been conned that we were not given gas three years ago". He blames confusion in Rugby Borough Council's housing team "We have had to deal with three names in the last three years".

Last year Bill Lewis took up their campaign and confirmed that gas would be supplied. Recently he was able to confirm with residents a date for the gas supply to be laid. After the frustrations of the last three years Alec is pleased that work is now getting underway. Another Garyth Williams Close resident put it very simply "Hooray - we will be warm at last".

Gas central heating is also being supplied to properties in Mellish Close (where Bill also pressed the local authority to act) and in Haig Court in Rokeby and Overslade Ward.

The Borough Council has been installing gas central heating to its properties across Rugby this year and is currently planning more work next year.
