Marion Nash thanks the voters of Rokeby & Overslade
Dear voter,
Thank you so much for voting me in to my new role as Councillor for Rokeby & Overslade on Thursday. After the shocking national election results for the Liberal Democrats, my success was even more meaningful.
Having spoken to over 1,400 residents in the past couple of months, I had come to be even more passionate about supporting the local community. I met many residents. I enjoyed the many debates and challenges to my knowledge and competency to represent the local electorate. I have a sense that my Essex sense of humour, together with my Dad's Northern work ethic, kept my head above water throughout those many hours pounding the streets.
Campaigning was a new adventure for me. It was easy to get people to answer their door. I just knocked or rung the bell. However, I soon found that it was equally easy to get people to keep the door open. I just mentioned Bill Lewis's name. I recognise that I owe a huge debt to Bill in supporting both my candidacy and my campaign. I will repay that in my commitment to the work that is being carried out for the residents of Rokeby and Overslade.
There are still over four thousand residents of Rokeby & Overslade I have yet to meet.. Please call me if you would like to meet me or talk any issues through. I intend to make the difference to the local community that I promised but those conversations are definitely needed to inform the work of Bill and myself. Let's keep in touch!
Best Wishes,
Marion Nash
