Marion Nash to fight for Rokeby & Overslade this May

9 Mar 2015

Cllr Bill Lewis is backing Marion Nash to join him on Rugby Borough Council representing the Rokeby & Overslade ward. Bill says "I have been looking for someone with energy and passion who I could work with in representing our ward on Rugby Borough Council. I believe I have found that person in Marion Nash".

Marion and her brothers and sister were brought up by her father on Limes Farm estate in Essex.

Ten years ago, she and her husband with their two daughters were living on a barge moored in East London. Then she was offered a job working for the Big Lottery Fund and the chance to move to the Rugby area. Today she balances her time supporting two teenagers, running a small business providing mediation services to settle workplace disputes, supporting local charities such as the Silver Sunday event and her work as an independent councillor on Clifton parish council (where she has a 100% attendance record).

Marion says "My greatest strength is getting things done. If you choose to elect me, Bill and I will work together as a strong team, keeping you informed through Focus, supporting campaigns on local issues and addressing any problems you may have with Rugby Borough Council".

There are six thousand electors in Rokeby & Overslade ward and Marion reckons she has met about four hundred so far whilst out and about working on the Ashlawn Road petition. Marion says she intends to keep going until 7 May and meet as many electors as is humanly possible.

Bill adds "In the last couple of months I have persuaded Marion to join the Liberal Democrats and she intends to stand under that banner but like me she is a people person first and a party politician second".

Since the news about Marion's selection has started to spread in the ward some people have spoken to Bill Lewis concerned that Marion will replace him. Bill says "I am not up for re-election until 2018 if Marion is elected she will join me on the Council and the two of us can work together".
