Monday night’s gyratory chaos (2 March 2015)

3 Mar 2015

Following the chaos on the gyratory last night (Monday 2 March) Cllr Bill Lewis (Lib Dem, Rokeby & Overslade) has demanded an explanation from the County Council.

The gyratory should have been re-opened to cope with the evening traffic but this did not happen leaving long queues of traffic as drivers desperately sought alternative routes round the blockage. Insufficient blacktop was delivered to Rugby to enable the contractors to complete the resurfacing. Apparently the county council's contractual arrangements do not include a penalty clause on the contractor on days when the gyratory should have been clear for peak hour traffic and was not.

Cllr Lewis has demanded an assurance that this failure will not happen again.
