New exhibition opens at Rugby Art Gallery & Museum
A new exhibition 'A Life in Pattern: The Life & Works of Sheila Bownas' opened on Friday 24 June at Rugby Art Gallery & Museum celebrating the life and works of artist and textile designer Sheila Bownas.
The curator of the collection is Rugby resident and artist Chelsea Cefai who stumbled across the Bownas archive and has spent the past 7 seven years bringing it back to life.
The exhibition presents paintings, drawings, designs and archive material bringing to life Sheila Bownas' vibrant career. Alongside this story is a to scale living room set showcasing new works by contemporary UK artisans inspired by Sheila's designs.
Cllrs Sue Roodhouse, Jerry Roodhouse and Tim Douglas attended the opening of the exhibition and were very impressed with how it had been put together.
The exhibition runs from 25 June to the 3 September 2016. Pre-booked guided tours are available lasting approx. 30-40 minutes.
