A new Job Club is to start in Overslade from Tuesday 25 April, to run every Tuesday and Thursday from 10am until 1pm at the Overslade Community Centre (OCC) on Buchanan Road.

Usha Thatcher, who you may already know from her work with job clubs in Rugby, will be facilitating the work of the OCC Job Club. The Club is a drop in centre which will provide a place where people can get on going support in taking practical steps towards employment. There will be free access to computers, the internet and service providers and help with CV writing and interview skills. The Job Club will also provide a space for job seekers to share their experiences with others in the same boat.

Marion Nash who is a Liberal Democrat Borough Councillor for Rokeby and Overslade Ward has been instrumental in setting up the Job Club, which has received funding from Comic Relief, Rugby Borough Council and Heart of England.

Commenting, Cllr Marion Nash, said:

"Being unemployed can be hard to deal with on your own, but being part of a club means people will face the challenge with others in similar situations. The OCC Job Club will provide a relaxed environment with the chance to meet other job seekers, get advice, learn new skills and gain the tools and confidence people need to find work."
