Now that’s what I would call “cluttered”
The conservative run county council have been justifying removing the safety railings along the gyratory on the grounds that this will unclutter the roads. (Although it now appears that they may be backtracking on this decision - see http://rugby.lib.dm/a2V4t ).
Common sense (and psychologists) would agree that if you present drivers with too many signs and signals they may become confused and make errors. Railings are a different kettle of fish however as they just emphasise the edge of the road to drivers (and pedestrians).
It seems very odd that a council which is so concerned about clutter should have used quite so many road signs when undertaking changes to the gyratory.
