Councillor Noreen New and Councillor Tim Douglas who represent Paddox Ward took part in the Great British Spring Clean weekend, doing a litter pick in the Paddox and Hillmorton area on Sunday 5 March 2017.

Noreen and Tim started in Featherbed Lane, covering the play area and skate park. They cleared the walkways leading from the playing fields up to Kingsley Avenue. Once on Hillmorton Road they litter picked all the way up from the shops to the Paddox Pub, Dunsmore Avenue and the alleyway leading onto Ashlawn Road. They finished along Elms Drive and Deerings Road.

The rubbish collected included a pint glass, an oil canister and a cucumber!

The Great British Spring Clean is a nationwide campaign held from Friday 3 March to Sunday 5 March to bring together people from across the country to clear up the litter that blights our towns, villages, countryside and coastline.

Commenting, Cllr Noreen New, said:

"I enjoyed taking part in the campaign and do my bit to help keep the Paddox area clean and tidy".

Cllr Tim Douglas, added:

"Hopefully people will find out about the campaign and dispose of their litter properly. It was great to take part and thank you to the Works Service Unit at the Council for providing us with grabbers, bags and high-vis vests."
