Rebuild from the grassroots upwards President tells Rugby Liberal Democrats
The President of the United Kingdom's Federal Liberal Party, Baroness Sal Brinton, paid a special visit to Rugby yesterday (Sunday 19 July 2015) to tell members that the whole party should reconnect with the electorate starting with the grassroots.
Baroness Brinton whose life in politics started as a councillor on Cambridgeshire County Council said that on 7 May the electorate had said that for the time being they did not want the Liberal Democrats to hold power at a national level. However since then the true face of conservatism was being revealed and now over 17,000 people had joined the party and we were once again winning elections. (Liberal Democrats gained a seat from Labour in Wrexham and a seat from the Conservatives in Sussex in local by-elections last Thursday - 16 July).
About sixty people turned up to Bill and Sue Lewis's house to hear the president speak.
